Enough of the robbery phase for now, let’s speak about the hideout and menus.
In the Hideout, the player recruits mercenaries, buys equipment, chooses a mission and serves as a main menu of sort.
The idea was that the player would be able to navigate in an apartment or a room and interact with numerous screens to do what he needs to.
Edgard and Erwann went and made a first version of an apartment.
The player will face four screens. Each one will contain one or more windows.
- The Planning is where the player will select a squad, a mission and begin to play.
- Suspicion is where the player can see the suspicion gauge. After each robbery, the authorities will become increasingly aware of the Highwayman involvement in these thefts. Once this gauge is filled, it’s either a game over or the player will have to bail out in a final mission.
- Money displays the amount of money the player has.
- Equipment is where the player can manage equipment.
- Deep Web is where the player can buy mercenaries.
- Black Market is where the player can buy equipment and intel.
The player will need to manage his mercenaries properly. Each mercenary comes with its perks and faults. They all have a loyalty percentage : a loyal mercenary will have bonuses to hos abilities and will not give intel on the highwayman if caught whereas a less loyal one will be less predictable in during robberies with unwanted behavior and will betray the highwayman leading to a sharp increase in suspicion.
You need to pay properly each mercenary after each robbery. Skilled mercenaries demand more money and less skilled ones less money.
Pay them properly and they will stay as they are. Forget them or don’t pay them at all and they will leave you, tell the police about you or be less loyal which can lead to unwanted behavior. Overpay them and their loyalty will increase.
That’s it for the hideout. Stay in, stay safe and see you next post !
